At Elemental Power, we’re committed to accelerating the transition to net-zero by providing organizations with the data, analysis, and expertise they need to make confident energy investment decisions.

We believe that the path to sustainability should be clear, cost-effective, and backed by rigorous data. That’s why we’ve developed EPOCH – our custom modelling engine that simulates millions of energy upgrade scenarios to identify the optimal solution for each unique site.

Our mission is to empower organizations to reduce their carbon footprint while simultaneously cutting costs and future-proofing their operations. We’re particularly focused on supporting local authorities and public sector organizations in their journey to net-zero.

OUR STORY

Elemental Power was founded with a clear vision: to make the transition to net-zero energy systems straightforward, cost-effective, and accessible to all organizations.

Our journey began when our founders, Simon Le Blond, James Martin and Rob Halliday-Stein, recognized a critical gap in the market. While many organizations wanted to reduce their carbon footprint and energy costs, they lacked the detailed, data-driven analysis needed to make confident investment decisions.

Drawing on their extensive experience in power systems engineering and sustainable energy solutions, they developed EPOCH – our custom modelling engine that simulates millions of energy upgrade scenarios to identify the most cost-effective path to net-zero.

Our Team

Simon le-blond

Technical Director & Co-founder

Simon is a chartered engineer specialising in clean power systems with over 15 years’ experience in power system simulation, energy storage innovation and consultancy. He is widely published and cited in his field. He is a principal co-inventor of a proven digital twin / AI - based early cable fault localisation solution in electricity distribution networks. Simon retains strong links to academia, including 4 top STEM UK universities and a network of contacts across the energy sector. His diverse publications span optimisation of multi-domain local energy systems, borehole thermal storage, grid flexibility and continent-spanning DC mega grids.

James Martin

Head of AI & Co-founder

James is an experienced data scientist with expertise in machine learning, signal processing and spatiotemporal modelling. His industry experience includes the design of artificial intelligence systems for real-time management of power networks, and his research has been published in leading international statistics journals. James is also an Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London, having held a teaching position there until December 2024.

Jon Warren

Software Developer

Jon is a software engineer. He has a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham and four years of professional experience in the domain of Computer Vision and Machine Learning.

Matthew Bailey

AI and Data Lead

Matt is a data scientist and AI developer with experience in green technology startups. He has a DPhil in Computational Chemistry from the University of Oxford, and is particularly interested in thermal modelling, optimisation problems, and using data to reduce carbon emissions.

Rob Halliday-Stein

Chairman & Co-founder

Rob is a highly successful serial entrepreneur and investor in renewable energy and sustainable technology and owner of several UK businesses.

William Drouard

AI Developer

William has a master's degree in Data Science with AI from the University of Exeter and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Leeds. He has professional experience developing a deep learning anomaly detection system for multivariate time-series data within the energy sector.

Derian Scott

Project Manager

Derian brings many years of project management and operations experience to Elemental Power. She cut her teeth as an embedded software developer and designer, before moving into managerial roles. She has a wealth of customer facing experience across several sectors including telecoms, aerospace and defence, finance and most recently energy.
