Mamhilad Park Estate, Pontypool, Wales
RE24 is one of the ALCHEMAI project partners. They provide energy solutions and analysis for non-domestic retrofitting. Johnsey Estates is collaborating with RE24 to offer their Mamhilad Park Estate in Wales as a pilot site for ALCHEMAI. Sensors have been installed in the mixed-use offices in the Mamhilad building to monitor energy use to collect data on temperature, humidity and motion, with clamp-on meters measuring electricity consumption.
Elemental Power has constructed a digital twin of the Mamhilad site – a virtual copy of the entire local energy system. We we use the digital twin to establish the operational emissions and operational costs of their energy usage over a given year, as well as the capital expenditure and payback timelines for any proposed energy infrastructure upgrades. Elemental Power’s Technical Director, Simon Le Blond says, “Digital twins are an essential tool, helping to quantify what’s required and evaluate the benefits of different retrofitting decisions in terms of costs and carbon savings.”.
Using our proprietary modelling and simulation engine, EPOCH, we have built upon this digital twin to rapidly simulate millions of feasible energy upgrade scenarios for the Mamhilad site, pinpointing the most cost-effective sustainable solutions for Johnsey Estates.
The Mamhilad site serves as a valuable test bed, offering commercial building insights.
